Environmental and Social Impact Assessment for the Proposed Waste to Energy Plant

Uganda’s recent accelerating economic growth has led to increased income and consumption levels, but has simultaneously led to increased waste generation which Kampala city authority is struggling to manage. The urgent need to dispose of large volumes of waste in a sustainable and efficient manner renders waste-to-energy (WTE) technology as a suitable solution towards an effective solid waste management strategy for the city.

The first WTE facility in Uganda is now being developed by NLS Waste Services (the project owner), together with two experienced Swedish organisations as technical partners.
Envtech Consult Limited is currently undertaking the ESIA and RAP studies for the proposed Waste to Energy Plant to ensure that project does not cause adverse impacts on the environment.
